I have just completed the slicing guide tutorial done by Faken, it really helped me to understanding how slicing works when creating layout for a website.

However i would like to know, when the slices are done can they be used with CSS to create the same layout?

i hear photoshop can export CSS, but i highly doubt you'd want to do that.

And i really don't think the exact same slices you use for the tables will work when you try to do it with CSS. So i'd recommend hand coding the CSS and slicing it according to how you think it will work, and change as you find out that it won't work exactly the way you planned.
