Creating backgrounds for sigs....

....... Iam just starting to read throught tutorials for creating sigs, but i am getting messed up with the basic of backgrounds.

I choose a brush and start to fill the background but this just turns into a block of colour rather than the cloudy , lines, ect. effect that everyone else has and i cant see where i am going wrong.

Can anyone help me please?

Dont actaully brush, just hover and click once :) don't move your mouse whilst you have clicked down. Once you released the mouse button, move your mouse in a different location and then click again...

Think of it as a brush in real life...

I think he uses the normal PS brushes :)

try downloading some good brushes! Go to deviantART ;)

have downloaded plenty of new brushes.

i have tried hoverig an clicking rather than holding the mouse buton but still seem to not ge the same sort of result as i what i seeon this site for sigs.

Also as a sidenote: you can play with the settings for your brushes by going to window >> brushes in photoshop (or by hitting F5 on your keyboard)

make sure your using the brush tool , not the pencil tool.
