Hi,

I'm having a few issues with a website I am making.

Here is a rough image of my design:

Ideally, I would like 3 expandable boxes (News1,News2 and Main Content Area). The logo, banner and nav buttons I would like to keep static.

Here is my website: My Webpage

The 3 boxes do expand, but not exactly how i would like. When they do expand they mess up other areas etc. Also the vertical bars on the boxes don't expand as the content gets larger.

The width of everything I want to keep constant.

Any help please?

OKay, I have totally recoded your page. The reason your site wasn't expanding was because, well you didn't code it that way.

Also lots of people have said here before not use ImageReady's code when making a template as well it is useless.

I ahve completely recoded now your Nav Bar, News 1 & 2 boxes and your Main content now expand without breaking anything. This is becase they are seperate tabels.

Also the basic structure of the main table that holds it all to gether is simple two columned table. Also I have modified your images too.

Here is your modified page

Hope that helps.

Thankyou so much softLearner. You really helped me out there!! I'm getting to grasp things better now with your help.

A few questions I now have.

I have finished most of the website.

As I want to repeat the template (nav bar, logo, banner, news boxes) on each page, I'm just thinking that I'm going the long way round about this. The only data that changes is in the main content box. But everytime I change a page - the template stuff (nav bar, logo etc) has to be reloaded. I think this is being a bit inefficient.

Another thing i wanted some advice on was a content management system for my news page. Is mambo any good? My site is a combination of HTML, CSS and Javascript. Are all CMS in php?

Thanks for reading

Sure you can use a CMS (e107, Mambo, etc). But would be easier to just make a header file and a footer file that you include in your pages.

Hi there

Can explain a bit more about a header/footer in a file. Or direct me to somewhere I can find out.

Are CMS's fiddly to implement?
