I was wondering how you could set up your scene looking like this:

instead of looking like this:

The first picture seems to have some environmental lighting, coming from all sides. Which makes the picture look more realistic.
Is there some global (enviromental) setting in Cinema 4D for this or am I wrong and are those actually a bunch of lights working together?

it actually doesnt look like a default renderer, looks more like something brazil or vray would produce. really soft shadows and subtle lighting (gi?).

saying that, i dont have a clue about how to do it in c4d, kind of making this post a bit pointless i guess :)

I found out that Cinema 4D 8.1+ version have a HDRI plugin which make it easier to create realistic lighting. Tutotial on this can be found here:

But for my scene I didnt get it to work properly. This is the result I got from the link Ckristian gave me. It is pretty much the same as the orginal image only my render is lighter but that is jus changing Brightness.
