you should first start in Safe Mode. Just before the windows loading screen appears, press F8. You'll get a menu, start your PC in safe mode. If you have winxp, just roll back to a previous save.

What you did exactly before that problem happened?

If you have a backup of your data, make sure it's backedup recently and format and reinstall is all I have to say. And if you don't want this to happen again, quit playing games and switch to Linux. Of course, no one can stop playing games now can they.

Linux? What does Linux has to do in this. You can't play games on linux and like 90% of people have no idea on how to use linux.

When does it restart?, once the desktop is loaded?

Btw, format is the last ever option when you tried everything.

If you format your C: drive you won't loose your data on your E: drive as that's a whole different hard drive. Even if it was a partition, you still wouldn't loose the data on it. Just don't mess up by typing "Format E:" then you will loose it all :P i done that before.

From what i can gather format is your only option.

As for linux, that operating system hasn't got much use aside from hosting.

you can just re-install windows over the current installation without loosing any files, even your account. Just insert the windows cd from boot.

Yeh a non destructive format if your on XP. Just put in your system disk. I love formatting destructive style xD it's so much fun watching months of work just go bye bye =\
