Looking good mate... liking that body form.

You should make a bump map for those wings!

If you don't know how, find/make a pic of the wing pattern you want to use. Take it into photoshop and apply the 'photocopy' filter under 'Sketch'. This will leave you with a b/w image. You need to invert this so that white becomes black and vise versa. You can then import this image into the bump channel of your wing material adjust the strength and voila!

no problem... if you were going for realism, just import the original colour image into the colour layer to texture it. you could even make an alpha channel by colouring the whole of the wing shape white(in photoshop) then import that image into the alpha channel. This will cut out the shape of the wing for you.....

I'll post the result in a mo...

Yea, i know.. I wasn't realy going for realism since the bug is from a metal material.
But i could make a nice version with realism textures so the bug will look realistic but also a bit fantasy (cause the grungy shapes etc).

Thanks!~

yeah I know :P just thought it would be cool for future reference, coz that technique applies to any texture want to make where you want definition between 2 parts of a texture. Like this, where you want the veins to be more promanent than the actual wing itself
