:D my friends - my first post here. I'm new in 3D Art and worked through it's tutorials and made a first attempt of modelling sth by myself. It's nothing special, but I like it :-) I've used an oillamp as a model we had here somewhere lying in the house (when I saw it, I had the believe to it could make light): and here is it:

Criticism is always welcome :) (except the ground whose texture was in the tutorial library :D I made the rest by myself (it doesn't need textures :D ))

I like it man but theres something about the lighting and the shadows that dont seem right. If theres a light source in the middle of the lamp, there would be shadows spread around the base, not just the one shadow coming from your spotlight or omni source.

Try turning soft shadows on for your light thats in the glass.

Thank you!

Here is an update, I think with this new style of the light it looks better, doesn't it?

I tried but couldn't get the shadows you meant, to make it look more realistic. Maybe it is because I've used near and far attentuation for that light?
I'm still a beginner in 3dsmax and would appreciate any help.
