if someone is spamming me, from say a company whos site i have never been to or agreed to be sent thier newsletter, is this legal?

for the last year my inbox has been clogged up by spams from some textiles/design site and ive never been there before?

would an email result in me being taken off thier list??? i know not to reply to the spam they sent me so i went to the site and found a contact form...

You are spamming my email address 'xxxxxxxxxxx@hotmail.com' on a regular basis for the last 2-3 months, i dont know where you found my email address but in no way have i consented to be sent your newsletters/spams/whatever they are, therefore it cannot be legal. Please stop this immediately or i will take further actions.

Regards,
S. Kemp.

is something like that an acceptable thing to write

Capitalizing all 'i's would make the email look more professional and serious.

If you are going to contact them via a contact form, a good idea might be NOT to mention your email, rather ask how to unsubscribe. If you get a friendly and courteous response within a reasonable amount of time, then if you have a spam filter, deploy it, block their domain if it's a company specific one. Most advanced email apps offer filters that can delete messages or store them in a junk folder if they contain certain words in their titles or in the messages themselves.

i have the same problems, if all the mails would be for real, wow , id be overloaded with free bbq's wedding cars and whatnot. anyways, sending an emails doesnt make any sense i send several emails, without succes. blocking them has no use either, since they change there email every time. this only happens with hotmail tho. gmail is auto blocking all spam mails.

Run a whois on their domain, get their host, and complain of unsolicited e-mails. They're forced to investigate, then shut them down if they're doing it. If that fails, threaten legal action.
