cant get realistic lightning

hey nomatter how hard i try i can never get realistic lightning, well i mean i cant get the right colour, i cant get the right texture, and i also cant get the right amount of light i try to change the lunimosity but it brightens up the entire page. <3
can somone help please <3

There are a couple of litning brushes around.

when you have finished making your image, try going into filter > Render > Then lighting effects. I find this can makes some good lighting changes to your image.

What kinds of methods did you use besides luminosity?

Like HouHou said, you can use the Lighting Effects filter for good effects, but there are also other ways. Experiment with layer styles like inner and outer shadow, bevel and emboss, gradient overlay, etc.

As a side note, if you use anything like color, gradient or pattern overlay at 100% opacity, lighting effects won't show up.
