okay this is a really messed up story, anyways

about 4-5 months ago my cd drive started making a "clicking" noise about every 5 minutes, and if you just tapped the computer it would stop or get worst, if it got worst you just keep tapping till it stopped.
Now, all of a sudden like 2 months ago my cd-drive has been broken, it wouldnt load any cd's that were burned, only 'official' cd's for some reason. I have been using my jump drive instead of cd's since it can hold more and easier to use, but soon I found out we needed to install this software for class, our teacher gave us a burned cd, my computer wouldnt load it and all that great stuff. So I goto dell.com to see if there are any driver updates, and sure enough, there is, I update it and all is working, it even stopped my cd from making that annoying clicking sound! The powers of a simple driver update

Yeah, drivers I've found can be VERY HELPFUL - especially with these weird problems found on PC's... I've saved my crappy dell from destruction numerous times with driver downloads.

hehe, the only thing, I dont like about the new driver...my computer runs super slow at startup now  but maybe that was because it was first time after the driver :o

OKay...it just started making that annoying clicking sound, looks like this driver did these three things:
1. Fix cd drive
2. not fix the clicky thingy
3. maky my computer slower

Ohhh man... The clicky thing sounds like a hardware issue.... that's not good, it means you probably need a new cd drive. The computer slower thing I'm not sure about... some evil dell/windows thing, but at least your cd drive works!!! If you DO end up picking up a new cd drive, I suggest you buy it from newegg.com if you live in the us... I'm not sure about the UK

I will most likely just goto the electronic store, its like a 10minute walk from here. But yea, if they dont have any good ones, I will most likely order it from newegg
