searched the forums.
searched google.
searched adobe troubleshooting.

nothing worked.

photoshop cs is fine, but when i try use the trial of cs2 i just downloaded & installed, it freezes when i have opened it.

how is one suppose to trial a piece of software when one cannot even use it :P

btw, before you ask about my computer specs or anything, theyre all compatible and more than good enough, so it is not that.

any ideas? or anywhere you have seen a solution to that i must have missed?

Photoshop sucks up your resources but just because your specs are over what is required doesent mean that they are currently availible. Check your computer for spyware and viruses and make sure nothing is running that shouldnt be.

Hope that helped!

try closing all adobe products, press cntrl alt del, processes, make sure they arent still running and try again. If it doesnt work uninstall it, reinstall it but install it in a different directory.

did not/have not had any adobe products running when i opened it either of the 5 or 6 times ive installed it :)

installed it in the adobe folder the first time and straight into program files the 2nd.

Ok i no this may seem pretty stupid but close everything and then go have a drink, relax etc etc and come back to your comp and see if it has loaded completly and is now usable

nope brand new pc running xp home.

bluemage: i downloaded it, installed it, skipped the activation part seeing as i dont have an auth code thingi or whatever it is, went to open it, and it seemed like it was working but then when i went to hover over the file menu it didnt turn blue. so i tried clicking it, and it froze. i thought 'ok, maybe i should wait a bit', so the next time i just left it, went for a fag, and when i was back..... yep you guessed it... it was frozen. when it freezes it is AFTER that intro menu thing that shows the credits etc. also when it happens the mouse cursor turns into the little hour glass thing like its loading something and keeps going.

it doesnt really effect the performance of my computer either i can leave it frozen in the background for 20mins and it wont slow me down or anything.

whats wierd as well, is that image ready work absolutely fine?

Maybe try installing the latest service packs etc.. through windows update. I know on my mac I was getting a weird error because I needed to update OS X Tiger, even though I JUST bought the powerbook. If doing a windows update doesn't help, I'm not really sure.

Whats your CPU Stu?

I can't run CS2 even though I have everything they say I need to run it.

I tried several times on the trial and the same thing, kept freezing up on me.

I'm also on XP Home.

If not then the only solution is get windows XP Pro, as if you look at other programs, most dont work on windows XP Home, and Adobe didnt specify, but most likely XP Pro doesnt work, because my friend has the same system as me, actually better but he has Home and it doesnt work. That can be the only explanation..

Even though I have CS2 I havent run into any bugs except dont leave it open for more than a day, really there is no point in upgrading, its really no different, somethings may render a little better and a few more tools, but really nothing new...

one of the main reasons i was looking into it, was because of that perspective thing they now have.

just wanted to see how useful it was seeing as im into arch viz.

EDIT: now that im thinking about it, i was having problems with illustrator too  every time i opened a new file it would close it illustrator!

I highly doubt that Adobe would choose to exclude XP Home users...
