Google and Yahoo are owned by same company... arent they? i mean the yahoo search use to be powered by google, i duno if still is (i dont use yahoo anymore)

no, but yahoo does use google technology to power its searches

yahoo has been working on its own technology for ages now though to power its search engine

There was a huge discussion about it, google is probably not going to do it. Would not be smart on there part, they would be putting a huge risk on it. And being as they would not be as advanced with trial and error, like the others they would probably go down at the hands of long horn. Microsoft may be "evil" but it knows how to eliminate competition, and it would pwn google if it had to.

its not that they are evil, its that they've signed deals with thousands of companies saying that these companies wont produce their products for other operating systems

hence microsoft owns market...

yep and i do believe google actually signed with microsoft if i am not mistaken.

No microsoft tried to purchase google earlier this year, but all the plans fell through and hence m$ developed its own search engine.
