Well I have made a favicon.ico. Uploaded it in the root of my website. Firefox does everthing like it should. It is shown in the adress bar, bookmarks and the tab's.

In MSIE 6.0 (that's what I use here) it doesn't work. So with some google-ing they said that if you put this line in the head of you page:

<link rel="shortcut icon" href="favicon.ico" type="image/x-icon"/>

then it should work, but only after you put the site in you favorites and visit it again.

Well again, I did that but still it's not working in IE. And I can't find any other solution. Does anybody know how to make this work, or did I do something wrong? ;)

Thanx...

Note the fact that the favicon will only show up next to the favorited link. And on the favorited page. No where else.
Also, last i checked the <link rel="shortcut icon"> tag was to make FF compatable (although, i find it unneccessary).

You probably have some setting that's not allowing it on your computer. I wouldn't worry about it to much, IE rarely does much correctly. With any luck, IE 7 will change that.

I think there's nothing wrong with my settings because it does show a few favicons from other websites, like http://www.lipsum.com/ (but not all)... :S Weird...

With geocities you can't even upload .ico files.
