Yes, just goto the Blending Options menu and add the things you want.

psd's arnt image files.... so no, dont make psds if you plan on putting them online.

and to deselect hold ctrl + d on your keyboard

(i think the alternative is select - deselect).

I ALWAYS make a PSD copy of EVERYTHING that I ever make. Even the smallest avatars I make files for. You never know when you will want to change something or use the PSD to figure out how you did something. I still have the PSD from the first thing I EVER did in Photoshop. PSD's however do take up lots of space, but you must AT LEAST save the stuff you spent more than 15 minutes doing in a PSD file. A PSD cannot be used to post artwork or an image on the internet, but that only requires going to File > Save for web. Then you can save the art as any filetype you wish.

To deselect soemthing (make the marquee go away) just push Ctrl + D or goto Select > Deselect. :)

thanks for your help, however i have another marquee problem

two layers - two different marquee created rectangles.

which each of these i have added 1 px stroke in black.

rectangle one i have filled with white at 50% opacity
rectangle two i have filled with black at 50%opacity.

Now the issue is rectangel one, rather than have a 1px black stroke around the edge it now has a gray stroke.

How do i get it back to black?

thanks

ah it seems that if i fill before stroke then the black border stays.

correct you are... the fill will change the stroke slightly, think its cos the fill layer is on top of the stroke, so half a pixel overlay happens.......

i did try what i said and it worked in a way but rectangle two has a thicker black line and looks odd, any ideas?

thanks

Are there any pre - set shapes in photoshop , like a basic triangle?

thanks

i know the reason why the blackline is thicker -its because i am adding the stroke then resizing the rectangle.

if i dont add a stroke and then resize i can no longer select the rectanlge and add a stroke
