wrong section i believe! for a portfolio it will be perfect, altho for a full blown site it needs to be bigger... its very nice, i would go about coding it in CSS if you know how to use CSS

Tirus, its 720px wide, what size would you recommend

d7x, how do you mean bigger? i am looking to code it all in css, does it look like it would work?

My borders seem to be different thicknesses and even though i thought i had everything measured and lined up perfect, the boxes seem un even.

Any more advice would be great thanks

moved to the correct forum. i think its a really good looking site, very original. most monochrome sites cant pull it off but i think youve done quite well.

it does look a bit small in the width though ...

well happy with the positive remarks. although i thought 720 would be plenty wide enough, but now i know the layout seems to work then i can try and redesign it which i planed to do anyway before attemting to code it.

was thinking a horizontal menu bar.

if i was to code it with css, can i make the menu have a drop down menu?

any ideas how i could imprvoe the buttons, think they look a bit basic and chunky

thanks

well there is no "should be" size for a website, but since the realistic minimum today is 800 pixels for the small monitors, you could probably make it at 800 pixels.

ah right, well i think i can add teh extra in witht the redesign.

Im quite happy with my first attempt but think it looks a bit too chunky and not as sharp as sites you see around, all looks a bit too childish i you know what i mean and what to try and get away from that.

Any ideas

maybe cntrl+T.

hold shift down whilst stretching it to keep the constraints consistent.

but it will stretch it. i suppose that dosnt matter if it is just a simple coloured blocok with a border though?

If you make it 800px you'll make a lot of 800x600ers angry at the horizontal scrollbar they have on their screen :) 755-760ish leaves some breathing room for the vertical scrollbar and doesn't make it overflow ;)

I just checked the width of that specific image on that link and the properties say the width is set at 405px, not sure if that's what you meant with the "720px wide"....

--Jaymz-- is absolutly correct with the:

Looks good by the way, the only comment I have is the width as already mentioned ( I use max of 760px) and the content area text is a little hard to read, possibly try a solid background?

Good job, for a first ;)

i have just checked the images on photobucket and your right it is only 405 where it should be 720 and my second attempt where it should be 800 is only showing as 600.

Any ideas why this could be happening, this could be why the proportions are looking odd, perhaps

thanks

I wouldn't have a clue, but remember to do your layout at around 760px not as you just mentioned 800px B)

Oh and ... what's "photobucket" ? a new version of Photoshop ? ;) lol
