Hey,
What's up. I seem to have encountered this really annoying problem when I downloaded Windows SP2. My computer isn't detecting anything that's plugged into my USB ports. My mouse fits in the USB and so does my USB drive and none are being detected. This is really annoying as I have to navigate around with this bloody touchpad. It's really uncomfortable and I can hardly do anything. I tried downloading the mouse driver (Intellimouse Optical) from the microsoft software page. At the same time I can't open my any files on my USB drive. I played around with the mouse hardware in control panel but nothing happened. When I boot up my comp, at first, the red light from the optical laser is on, but when it continues to load, the light goes off and stay off.
Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

If I were you, I would go into the device manager and delete everything under the USB category. Reboot and the system should re-detect and install the hardware again. Maybe that will correct the problem.
If worse comes to worse, un-install SP2.
