using tutorials is obviously one of the best ways to learn, but they're designed as a "basis" .. you should try playing around a lot more to make your finished product.
for a first attempt though, it's still well done

Yea mate, nice layout actaully.... very good for a first attempt.... nice touch on the gradients also!
