Hi
I am making a logo. I want to add a stroke around my text. But the problem is that the stroke goes center and not outside (like you can do in photoshop)
Does anny one knows how I can change that??

Hi Kei-th
I don't have illustrator right now on this computer, but what about duplicating the textlayer you've done, place it behind the original layer and then resize it so you have a nice outline/stroke.

There should be stroke options by clicking the upper right little arrow and going to "show options" in your stroke window.
It will then display the align-stroke option where you can tell it inside, outside, or center.
However for some reason my align stroke option was greyed out *shrug*
So anyways heres a workaround that should work just as well.
Select your text goto edit >> copy
then goto edit >> paste in back
Now if you play with the stroke options the stroke will go outside of the text.
Good Luck

Kei-th,
To make a stroke outside of the path, this is what you can do:
1. Outline your text
- select the text, go to menu Type > Create Outlines or press Ctrl+Shift+O
2. Offset Path
- select your outlined text, go to menu Object > Offset Path, then enter the value to want to offset from the path,
You can also offset path inside by enter negative value.

Or,...
always works and results are usually much better (type dont get distorted at all!):
1. copy text without the stroke
2. add the sroke like you normally would, but twice the size (so it would be 4 pt for a 2 pt stroke)
3. paste in front the original text you just copied (ctrl+f).
Like this the stroke will always be outside the type, so it wont be distorted. Maybe its not necessary anymore, but i'm still used to use Illustrator 6 in the old days and there it was the only way.
