I've just bought myself a new 1gb flash drive as my old 128mb wasn't didn't have the capacity I needed. Problemo is.....my PC won't detect it and the light on the flash drive wont come on. It IS Windows XP and I've never had this problem before. Any suggestions?

What kind of flash drive is it?

Was there any drivers with it to install? Is there a button on the flash stick to press?

Have you looked on the manufacterers website for help?

Well, if he has the same as mine, he will have to goto ADD HARDWARE and then it will do a formatting thing. It only does it once or until you tell it not to anymore, then it will be readable with all computers...I have the 1GB Lexar Secure Jump Drive...

Ensure that your USB plug is functional. I have had problems where one of my USB's didn't work at all with my memory stick, but the second one did work.

Also if you have an older computer there is no power running through your USB and can not power the memory stick .... don't quote me on this one, this is something I over heard a while ago ... could indeed be a myth :P

Sorry for not replying it was faulty I'm getting a replacement. By the way there was no buttons and its on XP so no drivers needed.

Yeah, usually when things like those don't function normally on windows xp, they're dead. I've had some experiences like that with the company I'm working for, there's rarely any problems with them.
