well im back, and with a new car model, i learned alot from the last car, the nissan skyline i just needed to make a model for myself, im always working on everyone else stuff, but i just needed a slow personal project with no pressure, so i chose a car model from one of my favorite brands, the audi. i always liked thier cars, they are very nice in design. very sublte but eye catching at the same time

i think im building an audi a4 if anyone can verify for me that would be nice, i search google for audi a4 and it looks like an s4 and the s4 looks like the a4 and the a4 looks like the a4 that im thinking of, so its very confusing. but the bludprints say a4

i started last night building the front bumper, fender, and hood,

anyway this is what i got so far, im not following the blue print EXACTLY like usual, im using more of my spatial sense and what i think the car would look better as, and yes i will be using sub d-s again so that means horrible looking geometry but great looking surface .

SHIV: i was gonna try you 5000 poly limit thing but i was just too lazy ^_^

and that plane in the middle is going to be the headlights

oh yea and i am thinking on using a different shading technique with mental ray, not just hdri, that looks like garbage most of the time

hey guys, thanks for all the great feedback, its lots of great feedback for so early into the car,

sorry for the slow updates, i havent had much time lately, but ifinished all my schoolwork today so ive had a little time to do it, i just finished the grill and started tweaking some weird geometry and some weird faces, basically just getting a better mesh flow overall

i gotta still do alot of tweaking on the grill, then the front end will pretty much be done. oh and i have to merge the grill and the audi sign so theres no actual intersecting geometry, which will be quite tedious

oh and sure ill be happy to make a tutorial about it, most likely soon after this car is done

nuther update

http://img213.images...8/a4wip31ww.jpg

it feels like i did alot but i really didnt, its just that the grill took so long. im going to try to make a low poly model with soft edges, then a hi res model and see how that comes out

okey dokey, new update

this picture is hugely different from the old one as u can see its much smoother, and much more pleasant to look at, the catch is it has the same amount of geometry and edges as the last picture (more or less the same it could be off by 10 edges or so because i added a bit more detal) but there is no mesh smooth or hypernurbs used.

i used soft edges, the last picture had hard edges, but this one has a combination of both, making it render and look different even though the poly count is the same, this is useful because i can make lower poly models easier and making them look better (im still going to make it high res but im also going to have a low poly version

another update, the front of it is basically done, i still have to build in the lights on the bottom part of the front bumper, there is a light that is built into the grill sorta, i already gave a crack at it, but i got alot of n-gons and funny geometry that resricted me from converting to sub divisions

in the picture below, i outlined in black the edges that will retain thier hardness, i outlined in grey, ones that will become a bit softer but still have the same definition, and i showed u what i meant with the light with the stuff circled in red

(the photograph isnt the same model but im showing u what i meant with the light
