Hey guys.. I got photoshop CS2 a few months ago.. and I'm having huge lag problem for photoshop CS2, but my photoshop CS works fine, and has no lag. Should I switch back to CS? I really don't know why I'm having this lag.. I have a decent computer

AMD 3400+ 2.5 ghz
NVIDIA 6800 GT
1 GB Corsair RAM (x2 512MB)

I've tried raising and lowering the Photoshop CS2 memory settings but I still get the lag. And my CPU usage goes up to 10-20% when I have CS2 on... so really, what is the difference between CS and CS2?

Have you tried uninstalling CS first if not then try that if that doesn't work then I think you should switch back to CS, the differences are minimal between the two versions.

it could be of the amount of programs you are running at once?

No, I don't think that's the problem because even if I close all the programs, CS2 would still lag but CS is fine even if I have all my usual programs running.

Did you try to assign the scratch disk to a seperate partition (or another HD, not the system), with at least 250MB free space?
Just brainstorming here, dont think it will change anything, but i know this (together with resetting my stylesmenu), speeds up a little the program.

An Athlon 64 3400+ should have no problem running CS2, and you also have enough RAM. You don't ahve a problem hardware wise. You may just have some drivers that conflict with CS2. Get teh latest versions of everything. The best thing is to just go back to CS though. I don't think CS2 is a great use of money to buy it as an upgrade.
