Okay, so I finally had time to sit down and work with trueSpace6.6. After watching video tutorials and learning the basics, I set off to model my first, well, second, model. My first model was a screwdriver and it came out fairly well, but I do not want to post it.

Basically, this is a cologne bottle modeled after Michael Jordan's brand name. I have the bottle in my bathroom and I really love the smell of the cologne. I decided why not model it (the bottle of course)? I wanted to work with transparencies and reflective materials, and from what I have done I need to work on it some more. I guess I could say this is a WIP kind of thing, but I am happy with the results so far.

yeh good,
however, i tink the reflection of the table or whatever it is is too strong, it looks like a mirror ;)

Thanks, and I agree with you. I think the reflection is a bit too strong, I'll dim it down when I start working on the background scene for it.

That turned out pretty neat looking. I'm always so amazed with this 3d looking objects everyone makes. Some of them look so real I almost can't believe it was done in a program. Very well done Silwolffe. Keep up the wonderful work. :)

Best Regards,

Jason :)

hey silwolffe, looks good but i got some pointers,, the modeling side is good, but it could use some work, try bevling or rounding out some worners, even though an object looks sharp, u should still add some subdivisions at the cornders, and on the render, it looks good, the reflections are a little too strong, correct me if im wrong, but doesent truespace render with vray??? if it does look into some HDRI

good stuff ;)

Thank you Jason, Beaver, and Atomica. :D

To answer your question Beaver, trueSpace6.6 doesn't render with VRay. TrueSpace7, however, can. You just need to purchase the 'optional' VRay expansion with trueSpace7, which is an extra $200. trueSpace6.6 and below renders with Lightworks. TrueSpace7 will feature HDRI with the new Lightworks engine. :D

I was trying to think of a way to render to sides to be smoother and I tried with a sub-division tool, but it just made the entire model look like an irregular ball. I'll try to round off the edges to give it a more natural look. Thank you for you input Beaver! :D

Oh, and before I forget, you might enjoy checking this videos ontrueSpace7.

Well, I haven't had much time to work on the cologne bottle, but I did manage to smooth it out a bit and change the reflection.

I added a shadow too, but it didn't look so good. :D

I agree. The one with the shadow doesn't look nearly as good. I like the first one though.

Thanks Andre, and yeah, I agree.. The change wasn't really that drastic.

Instead of creating a new thread, I thought I would just add on ot this one. I finished a rather sloppy menorah for the 3D competition, but I might go in and edit a few things to make it prettier... I was mainly just fooling around with the material editor and the lighting effects.

I don't know much (nothing actually) about the capailities of truespace. But if you could work on the candle flames a bit more and add a background, it'd look really good.

Yep! I'm trying to find a suitable background for it, but instead of having it gray I thought I would make it black for the time being. :) Thanks, I'll work on the candle flames.
