Well... last night when I was applying for college, my mac just decided to like... die. It ended up being some evil hard drive corruption that nobody has ever seen before (showed like 5 mac GURU's) and I lost EVERYTHING!!! :) Oh, and sorry I haven't been on lately that much, I've been busy with pre-college stuff!

WHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!!! THAT IS HILARIOUS!!!! .... but not very true. What happened with my mac is that it was going super super slow and pretty much the hard drive got really messed up for some reason so I had to erase everything. Now though, I've got a majority of the stuff reinstalled and I made an image of my hard drive and saved it on my external

Nasty loosing everything, time you invested in a one touch backup drive austen they come in quite handy at times like this, at least if your PC goes Kaput you still have all your data.

Are you not able to recover anything?

Funny thing is, I HAVE a Seagate One-Touch Backup......... but I had just got it and didn't enable the one-touch thing and didn't bother to back up that much...... and no Donna, nothing is salvageable... Thanks.

Was it the drive that came with the machine?

Have you taken it to an Apple store?

Chances are you can recover atleast some stuff, if not the majority. If you erased it all, it isn't really erased. Unless you did a secure delete type of thing, then you really are screwed.

Yeah...well.. I did do a secure delete... so it is all gone....... The nearest apple store is an hour away so... I'd rather just re-do some stuff :)

Sorry to hear about your Mac :) Too bad you didn't have a recent backup.

You know, I think I might want to do a backup with the shape my PC is in

Well that sucks lol. Sorry to hear about it. If you used good secure delete software, chances are you won't be seeing those files again heh.

Yeah, I won't be seeing them again :) oh well... I guess I'll have to build up my song library again *busts out cd's*... I just made an image of my HD though and did a restore onto my external hdd so I can boot from it and save my crap if it fails again. (even though I tried that and it didn't work this time, it would've worked before I tried a repair disk on it.)

If i had another 320 GB of space i'd backup my system, but I barely have room for the original files, never-the-less a backup!
That's really gotta suck dude. I feel for ya. If I lost even one of my HDD's (I have 3) I'd be tempted to start using my head as a bouncy ball against my desk.

Yeah, I pretty much was doing that... especially after this one guy who is like PRO at macs (maintains them for a living) was like "I have no idea of how to get your info back."
