Valid XHTML doctype problems

so lets say i have php navigation..how do i make it valid? I have my index.php page. I also have the tutorial page or whatever page it is. I have the doctype on it and everything. It will say doctype is not allowed..Im creating a real estate website now, and I dont know wheather to go with php navigation, or with just the regular html pages..is there a way to get the php navigation be xhtml valid?

Show us your current navigation script, and we'll tell you what is wrong with it, and we can provide more help

PHP does not determine whether or not a page will validate. Your problem is the html in the pages you're including, not the php including it. But i agree with halopr0 sort of, the html you're trying to validate would help us fix the problem.

So i'm moving this to a more proper category.
p.s. I hope you don't mind, i renamed the topic as well.
