Okay, I've only had Photoshop 8.0 for a few days and have been using the tutorial to get used to it.

However, in some of the tutorials I have to use the Filter tool to get a desired effect. But when I selet the Filter option some of the tools are unselectable. The only ones I can select are Solarize, Blur, Sharpen, Noise, Stylize, and Other. The rest of the filters are unselectable so I cannot acheive the effects I need.

Please help me.

I don't know much about Photoshop 8, but i have used 7 a bit, and i know if your image doesn't have the right mode, a lot of things won't work.
By mode i mean, RGB, CMYK, greyscale, indexed (i believe thats the proper name, and the most picky).
So try going to image>mode and then make sure you have an RGB image.

Note, i doubt this will fix the problem, but its a start. If worse comes to worse, then you can always ask adobe support (which i would recommend since they made the program).

It's Okay, got it sorted now. When I started a new image I had it set to 16-Bit and it looks like some of the Filters only work in 8-Bit.

LOL -
