Ok, well i haven't done much in 3D in a while, so i started this car. Same objectives as last time:
create a low and high poly model
achieve photorealism in the renders.
make it geometrically, an accurate model

heres what ive done so far, in just a few hours over the span of 2 days

as you can see some parts dont match up perfectly, thats because im not sure if im right or the blueprint is right, the blueprint looks funny though, so im guessing all those curves are throwing me off, most people would model this car out of nurbs since theres so many damn curves in this car.

these parts will most likely be exceptionally hard too, this whole thing is going be be geometry, to planes with alpha maps as grills or wire meshes. im going to model partial interior too like the last one. and thats pretty much it. :D

thanks for all the replys guys, i got misterms to study for these couple of weeks so im not sure when ill be done, but im putting a lot of a little into it at a time so whenever its done its gonna be good :)

well, heres a new update, basically what i did in this picture is get the rough shape of the front bumper,
Posted Image
here its a bit funky, its got some weird geometry, and curves that will be a little complicated to build, the lack of good reference pictures are no help either.
and here is the weird geometry im talking about
Posted Image
if all goes good with little homework tommorow, ill work on getting the front bumper just right, that gaping hole will be made mainly with an extrude im guessing, then manually putting in some more geometry where i need it to run to the little whole on the side of the bumper. after tommorow hopefully i can get working on the doors, which have even more interesting geometry... ;) ;)

i also gotta start testing out some shaders

no update for a while sorry, got a but lazy ;) i meant to update for a while i just never got around to it

anyways this is where im at pretty much, the front end is pretty much done, and that very cubish hole on the side rounds out perfectly just how i wanted it too when i convert to sub d's, its now time to start working on the midsection of the car the doors, the roof, etc, this will be pretty hard to the side of the car looks pretty hard but if i take my time im sure itll work out.

thanks guys for the good feedback ;)

heres my last update for the day, i did alot of modeling work, im thinking i might not do the converting to sub-ds but instead add more divisions manually, resulting in a cleaner mesh, better looking wire, and somewhat a equally attractive model

Posted Image

after i get the door handle part with the mesh girll im pretty much homefree, the trunk and back bumper will be pretty easy, nothing too complicated

wow sorry for no updates ive been real busy recording tutorials for my site, and school work and client work and stuff.i worked alot on it, from previous images it looks like nothing, but i refined almost every vertex. making sure every one has a purpose. and that its perfect.

i also built in the headlights, they are far from done, but most of the work will come after they are smoothed out because those sqare holes will round out to become sockets for the light bulbs.
