I am using Photoshop CS at the moment. Whenever I save any picture as gif, it becomes like grainy or noise (if either is the correct term). It gets worst if I have to use that gif file to make another gif file. For example I use a non animated gif file to make an animated gif file. The grainy is much much worse. I used 256 colours when I save. Is there anyway to have less noice or none at all if possible? When saving as jpg its fine.

Also what is the best way to sharpen an image using PS? I tried using the filter to sharpen the image but the result is not what I was looking for.

Thanks in advance.

i never understood this, why do people have a hard time with this.. anyway.. save the file the regular way as a gif but when you get to the settings to save as, use something similair to this

it had a lot more colors than 256 to start, not too shabby eh..

Thanks. That does help a bit. There is still a bit of noise but I can live with that. Its a lot less than before
Now I cant seem to find any option when saving in imageready "save optimized as". There are still a lot of noise when I am saving an animated gif on imageready.

just go the the optimize tab and enter the same settings. If the tab is not there go to window> optimize

Thanks. I was told that I could save animation as png without losing any of the quality. Is this true? Everytime I save as png, when I try opening the file back, the animation doesnt play ;)

You cant save animations in PNG format, only gif's can play animation's.
