DALLAS (AP) - A $20 bill mysteriously printed on top of an ordinary fruit sticker sold Friday for $25,300 US, an auction company official said.

The flawed note bears a red, green and yellow Del Monte sticker next to Andrew Jackson's portrait.

The buyer at the auction in Orlando, Florida, did not want to be identified, said Dustin Johnston, director of auctions for Heritage Galleries and Auctioneers of Dallas.

The 1996 bill originated at a U.S. Treasury Department printing facility in Fort Worth, but how the fruit tag found its way onto the paper of the greenback is unknown.

Thats pretty cool, but sounds like back in 1996 somebody forgot to keep their lunch out of the printing room.

How much trouble do you think that guy would be in?

With the amount of bills printed at a time, I doubt they caught it. I bet it was done on purpose, a prank by a worker...

If he's anonymous it makes it easier for conmen to con people into thinking their fake is the real thing :P

It does seem wierd buying it anonymously though - I mean, there's only so much pleasure he can get out of it alone. I would imagine if I had such a rare not I would be boasting to everybody and in the process staying anything but anonymous :P
