I never usually make pointless threads like these, but I'm 'in the moment,' so to speak...

It's 3AM in the morning, I'm in my bed tossing and turning, trying to sleep... Well, I feel something rub against my arm, I freak out a little but only to think that it was my weird-shaped pillow that did it, so I make nothing of it... Ten seconds later, I feel something drop from my hair, onto my cheek. Reflexes kick in, and I feverishly swipe whatever it was on my face. This time, I felt something -- kind of like a squishy circular booger.

I freak out, jump out of my bed, and turn on the fan light to see a shrivled up clear spider the size of a dime near the end of my bed towards the wall...

Now, I turn into a wuss whenever I see a spider. Rabid dog, no problem. Eight legged arachnid? Big problem. I naturally have one of those, "Oh my God!" freakout moments. After I calm down, I grab a piece of toilet paper, pick up the spider and it's legs that were scattered around due to the force of impact of the slap, and throw em' in the toilet...

Now, I went over my bed to see if there were any more only to find nothing... But you know what, I think i'm going to wait a minute or two before I jump back on in... I'm just, oie... :D

Has anyone ever had something similiar like this happen to them? :D

:D I wouldn't be able to go back to sleep and yep have been there done that with a funnel web spider, daddy long legs and white tail spiders and I dunno what it is about spiders but I would rather tackle a grizzy bear than a spider lol

My dog has this weird ability to hear them crawling across the floor in another room, or she can smell them so I'm always alerted to them before they get near me and where I live here just before the snow comes spiders come inside out of the cold so theres a few weeks when we have heaps of them.

Its a known fact we all eat at least one spider in our lifetime whilst sleeping. :D

I too was unable to sleep until about 3 - 3:30 last night so I got a total of 4 hours and feel almost as exhausted as Faken must :)

But lucklily for me no spiders that I could see, hate em, but I'll deal with em. Although If something is on me and I shake it off I'll get like the temporary shivers and then deal with it. lol

I hate spiders I can kill them, but if they are big I take teh vacuum. And I have never had a spider in my room, maybe cause we live on the second floor, but the hallway to our apartment had a huge spiderweb taking up the top half of the hallway and like 5 huge spiders were in it...I went around the other way :)

I got a snapple cap a few weeks ago that said we eat on average 8 spiders in our lifetime while sleeping

Thanks, Donna...

I've heard that there are a bunch of tiny 'bed' bugs within our sheets, pillows, and mattresses... I, for one, don't care too much about them because I can't see them, even though I believe I sometimes do 'feel' them on a slight occassion... It's when something the size of a dime with eight legs falls from my hair onto my cheek while I'm trying to sleep that really freaks me out.

Oh man there is a ton of things out there, like mites, bed bugs, this huge ass thing that sucks blood from your face while letting its "load" drip out the other end constatnly too! (only find in south america I think)

I gotta find that Discovery Channel report on vampires, they covered em all.

At my grandma's house there was a bannana spider the size of a small volleyball with it's web in the screenroom corner, we had to shoot it.

argh, zomg, I would just die if that happened to me. I can't handle those spiders that aren't much bigger than ants, let alone bigger ones. xD

Lol, what a great way to start a day huh?
I had something similar to this...
I have lizards. One day after i fed them I fell asleep...
sometime during the middle of whatever hour it was i feel something on my arms im like okay...and ignored it.... a little later i feel something on my leg...man this is getting kinda annoying...its the lightest touch, almost ticklish. next time i noticed it was on my stomach it hit me that time. i started guessing what it was, a spider? and a moment later i grabbed it.
im holding it in my hand and i turn on the light... Its a cricket! oh man that guy sure did suffer.

yea, i am a wuss when it comes to spiders. In my room right above my head is a fire alarm, I remember I was half asleep, and I remember looking up and seeing the red dot on the alarm. Being half asleep it looked like it had legs, and was moving. I jumped out of my bed, ran to my wall and flipped my light on. Searching my bed, i realized what it finally was. I felt like a total dork afterwards. But like i said, me and spiders = bad mix.

Yeh, my grandparets life out in a cabin in the woods, so you see a lot of creepy crawlies.
Info on the Bannana Spider

They are pretty harmless, just kind creepy to look at. Spiders I have no problem with, cockroaches are a different story, their vile little bastids, living in florida, I see a lot of those, If I leave my window open they'll crawl up under the screen and into my room, even after it's kiled and trashed I start to wonder if it's been in my room long enough to lay eggs, then I'm afraid to sleep in my room :glare: :)

Holy crap that is a big spider!

There is another sort of spider found in brazil that are very dangerous. they also got their names from bananas.

here it is:

This spider is believed to have the most active neurotoxic venom of any living spider. Its venom is so potent that only 0.006mg (0.00000021oz) is sufficient to kill a mouse.

The Brazilian Wandering Spider is very fast, extremely venomous, nervous, and aggressive. This large and dangerous spider is grows to five inches long, and is ranked among the most venomous spiders known to man.

This Spider is often referred to as the "Banana Spider" because there have been cases where these spiders unintentionally appeared on banana boats heading for the United States from tropical, and subtropical regions of South America.Tarantulas are commonly found during banana inspections.

umm....yea. I just had the worst shiver go down my back when I looked at those pictures. Ewwww, man I hate spiders. Kinda funny, people have different phobias. Well my sisters Feince has a phobia of Grease. If he gets it on him he like freaks out. One day we were talking about it and he said that he hates it, when it is on his skin he freezes up. I got laughing at him, then got thinking, that is just like me with Spiders. I freeze up, cannot move, get scared start sweating, once I can move i run for deer life. After that I have more respect for him and his phobia.
