well i dont like the render or the text much but I think I am kickass at backgrounds...

I agree with your comments 
The render is good except perhaps tone it down a little? And at the same time the text is alright, but tone it up a little? Perhaps a color with very little saturation (like a desaturated red).
Also, the border isn't visible enough because of the colorless BG, perhaps if between the two borders you have nothing but the BG (delete the render there) - just a few thoughts

changed hat color..better...worse?
and it has color...very light blue and greyish/white

Nice one, I like the background, but yeah, you need to work on the text. For example, try changing the font and the blending mode. You use always the same style
