Ive got a movie clip inside my flash document and the movie clip is 1000 frames but my main timeline is only like 60, is it possible to have the whole movie clip play without increasing my main timeline to 1000 frames?

yes but only if you put the movieclip in a single frame and do a stop action (Esc + st shortcut) but if you need things AFTER the movieclip you will need these actions on the last frame of the movie clip AND the stop action.
