I would like to learn more about photoshop and its tools for making custom graphics (logos, web templates etc). I have Photoshop CS one on one book and I am going through that, this is my photograph munipulation, which is nice, I enjoy it, just looking for more than photograph editing/enhancing. Any of you have a recommendation for something like this, for a semi beginner in photoshop (been using it off and on for a couple years for basic things, know some of the tools.. but ALOT to learn yet).

Thanks

Okay, For me I never went through a book, I started messing around from the start and learned alot, then go through some tutorials. In my opinion you cant learn photoshop and all its functionality through a book, you have to teach yourself your own style. But if you really insist on a book here is one a couple of my friends said gives a good start, though like I said you wont become good by a book, you have to mess around, mix techniques and learn a style that you like..

I basically would like a book to get me familiar with the tools and how they work. There are a thousand tools in ps and a hundred different ways to do the same thing it seems, I just would like to be shown what steps to take to do a particular exercise, get me familiar and using all the different tools ps has to offer. Once you can master the tools ps has to offer, then its entirely up to you what you create and how it looks when you are done. An entertaining way to be introduced to all the tools is what I am looking for.
I would prefer a book to be at least version 8 (CS or CS2).

for what your after you need to buy a good set of around 4-5 books, if your like me and need to see it visually i would recomend you get a subscription to a magazine, in some cases its probally cheapeer too.

go for somthing like Photoshop user magazine or layers but in the end the only real way is to get out of your comfort zone and differ your setting to the ones in the tuts to c what out come you get. but i have found tht the magazines are better than the books you can get. there are a few others ones aswell like digital creative arts, advances photoshop (which is real gud most of the time) and computer arts. they are the best ones outthere.

the best option for you is probally photoshop user mag if u only use photoshop other wise pic and choose if you use other adobe apps
