weeks have post since my last work "show off" and since then i have been trying to come up with something new, something fresh. i find it stupid for people to model same type of concepts over and over again. Final Thrust is my second piece of work so far, and i think its pretty succesful. I started this project as test grounds for land generation.
any comments are welcome and suggestions for improvements will be considered.

well without no further due... here it is

Programs Used:
1)3D Studio Max 8 with
-DreamScape (for land mass)
-AfterBurn (for fog and ship engines)
-finalRender Volume Light (for lightning)
-rendered with finalRender Stage-1 with global illumination and Anti-Aliasing
-total render time is 3 hours
2)Apophysis
-i used apophysis renders to generate tha land mass in dreamscape
3)Adobe Photoshop CS2
-used to combine different types of apophysis renders for the final land mass
-used for frames and additional anti-aliasing and effects
4)TerraFormer 2
-i used this freeware application to take the apophysis renders that were converted in photoshop to grayscale BMPs and turn them into terragen format for use in the 3dsm plugin DreamScape

total production time is 1 week

i am not sure yet, but i might get my stuff together and write an extensive tutorial on this work, but not sure yet.

PS: i am trying to ocme up with a story or osmething for this image

Beautiful! That really caught my eye! Text could have been mroe subtle, and that beam of light could have been blurred/faded a little more. Amazing work though ;)

well... when i started this project i had one thing in mind, not to use photoshop, not at all... and thats what i did, everything is modeled in 3dsm, i used PS for generating images to use them in dreamscape for land mass and for the frames around the picture itself. everythig else is pure 3dsm.... the light beam was really hard to come up with, it has total of 200 omni lights which make the little particles that surround the main beam and the main beam was composed of 2 target lights... one is smaller and brighter in the middle and the other one i more wider in radius and less brights so the beam has this glow like effect.... but again my original intention was to use no photoshop what so ever and i ddint

i bet u guys cant wait for my next piece.... i thought of it while i was watching the movie serenity....

Respect for doing something by urself , not by the way that others already made.
Imho the image could use a bit of contrast, but it's either way a very nice job.

Good stuff dude! Thats pretty cool that its all 3d, wish it was a bigger render so we could see detail. Maybe we could see some other views/angles of it?

bigger renders in pixels are possible, but what u really mean is a close up and yes i can give u close up, but angled view is not recommended since the landmass is not indefinate and the fog is not really concentrated so u are gonna see empty parts of the world lol
