Cylander problem

I'm making something and I'm having a problem...

I'm makeing a cylindar with 3 holes that go straight through to the other side. I don't know how to cut holes through it??

I did manage to work something out... I made cylindars and placed them where the holes would be; then just gave them a black material and it worked for this the project I attached (my 1st real model ever), but I would like to know a more practical way than the way I did this.

use a boolean object, not sure what its called in c4d but try search the help documentation for that

yeah boolean will do the trick for any type of holes or shapes u wanna cut out into any other shape/object, took me a while to find where the boolean was located in 3dsm and i found it under create->compound
u might wanna look around there in c4d if u cant find it
