Please note that it has always been policy that we do not accept tutorials hosted on free image sites because they are constantly going down... this includes Photobucket and Imageshack. We have been fairly relaxed on this rule, especially if a tutorial was of decent quality.

Well, I'm afraid that I am getting too many dead link reports because of dead images, so I have no choice but to completely deny these on the spot no matter how good the tutorials are. "But ImageShack doesn't have any limits!" is something I hear a lot... that's completely false. After our members hammer away at that image for a few hours, Imageshack will quickly cut off your image and post a small icon that says please use a thumnail due to high bandwidth usage. Donna and I are spending way too much of our time looking at dead image links.

So gang, please use proper hosting for your images, otherwise I can't accept them anymore. You can buy hosting for $5 a month pretty much anywhere, including our host Serverseed.com.

Thanks!
Dan

Pointless really,
I mean the average tutorial total in image size would be about 1 meg, If your host cant handle that - Why bother?

I think that people should simply just write a tutorial on a page insted of in an image.

Tutorials are being removed as the images are going dead, not just referring to full image tutorials. 90% of dead tuts are dead images.

Seriously, people need to use reliable hosts. There are plenty of sites out there that allow you to upload images directly to the forums/server from someone's site. If you own a forum, install an attachment MOD.

this will probably benefit more people in the long run so nice move, people usually get annoyed when they see lots of comments on a tutorials, complementing how good it is, only to find the image is broken.

You should have Jay make a script that doesn't allow imageshack or photobucket submissions :P

Is the webspace you got of your ISP allowed?
Cause that can have strange names.
Like in my case its:
users.pandora.be/acountname/

Your space your isp provides is fine I see no problems in that.

I think its better to use free hosting like www.1asphost.com, www.brinkster.com or even geocities just only to see their tutorials
because some people want to share the tutorial but they dont have enough money to spend... ;)

Don't use large images people! Optimize them! Most of them 50-100kb sized images can be saved at a lower quality and still be fine! You can get the file size down to a few kb and not have to worry about them being removed for bandwidth use.

As for the giant image tutorials, I never thought those were a good idea and this is the main reason why! I tried to warn everyone!

For you forum owners, if you plan to submit the tutorial here host the images on your server first! It's not hard, it won't use up that much more bandwidth and it will definitely be worth it now that your tutorial has no chance of being listed here if you don't.

Anyway, I'm glad you decided to do this. I absolutely hate not being able to see the images, 99% of the time I click a tutorial link just to see the final outcome.
