I have no idea if this is legitimate or fake but it's popped up on Digg and users have stated it's real.

dEcade does phpBB not have a feature where they have to verify their registration? or at least type in a Security Code Confirmation before registering? I don't use phpBB but am curious as to how these bots are getting through the registration process.

Yeah I just made it so that it has a confrim code, and so that they need to activate their account. I also deleted that account banned the username and the username had an email so I sent him an email telling him why the account was removed because it might of just been the name not the bot. The person did not have any post or nothing so they shouldn't feel to bad lol.

phpBB doesnt come with a securty code at the start. They might have added one of are going to. There is a mod for it though.

a security code??? do you mean visual confirmation? because if you do it already has it

I had spammer coming to my phpbb, they somehow even got passed the email verification and IP ban's.
But enabeling captcha stopped them all.

Wouldn't be surprised to see something like this, phpBB hacking is rampant as it is.

phpBB forums are very easy to hack. Good that I dont use it, IPB is much better! :(

I guess they added that. The last time i used it was like version 2.1.4 or something like that. about a year ago. Thats nice that they added that.

The main thing phpBB needs to do is totaly rewrite most the code.
