Hey,
I have currently decided to start learning Javascript in the hopes of in a few months to get the basic grasp of AJAX but so far it's been difficult trying to find any good tutorials on starting Javascript and they all same basically the same things; but following different rules so tonight I have asked myself Is it worth learning it or not. Now I know that it would be nice to have a Client Side Scripting Language on my Skillset but I just don't know where to begin with anything to do with this subject.
So is it really worht it; and if yes do you have any links to some in-depth articles and tutorials introducing the basic syntax and structure of Javascript; also any links to a few books will certainly come in handy for me as long as they're in UK GPB as I can never convert them
Many thanks
Dan

If your going to learn AJAX with it then yes its worth it IMO...AJAX is quite a neat tool to use online, too bad not many websites implement it.

The link above is a nice discussion about whether to learn JS or PHP. You might find it informative, i think it covers the subject rather well.
As for AJAX, here's another discussion about it (only much smaller).

And if you want to know my opinion about how to learn, just look for my posts in the first link
edit: Just rememberd. Quirksmode.org. Awesome site for learning JS, it goes overly in-depth in several areas including cross-browser compatability. Navigation is a bit wierd though, i just google the site to find what i want.
