I have had this problem for a while but now I have to solve it. When I make a full layout in photoshop, and the colors are exactly how I want them, and then go to save them for web the color changes dramatically. i have used templates I have purchased off the web and this doen't seem to happen to them. i have compared all the settings aginst the template ones but it still changes my colors. When I say changes my colors I mean I start with vibrant greens and when I save for web (in any file type) it dulls them to an olive drab. Why does it do this and how can I fix it? It is very frustrating but there has to be a way to maintain your output color from Photoshop to save for web. I have attached 2 files showing the problem Attached File  colors.pdf   134.79K   3 downloads

Sounds to me like you're using a GIF preset, try JPEG.

Did you check the quality slider when you were using JPEG, that might help. Maybe post a screenshot of your settings as well?

Also: What version of PS are you using??

Ive had the same problem. But, what I did was, I suppose you sliced it right? anyways, so this is what I did.. I viewed it 100% in the save for web dialog box, I made sure the selection tool I think.. whatever tool is the default when you press save for web, it lets you draw a box around like your selecting your layout.. and after doing that once.. your colors should be restored. it worked for me.. hopefully i explained it reasonably.. im not good at explaining things..

I have been incredibly frustrated by the same problem. After reading the suggestion here I tried it myself and noticed that it worked. I think it is stupid but it worked. I think that what is happening (and this dosn't make sense) but when you cut a part of the design out and place it in a new file and then save for web, it doesn't retain the same color info as the original file it was in. The suggestion above works though.
