Hello,
I was just wondering what steps do you take to choosing the colours for your site?
i seem to struggle to choose a range of colours that look fight to the eye, i was thinking that i wanted to use a range of pastel browns for a site and use differnet shades, you know like in a DIY store where you get the paint tester strips and it shows shades of a colour. I wanna be able to do that but just seem to end up with solid colours that look like lego bricks.
can anyone help me out.
any example of what i mean is here:

who shows various shades of noe colour and i think they work well,

try and think about what the site is for and go for what colours would work well with it. Say if you were doing a site for a death metal band you wouldn't have bright colours would you.
Also pick what colours you like and play around with the different shades of that colour too see what you get and like
hope that helps

Personally, I prefer to play around with colors until I find a match that I like. I don't like using automatic color-matchers (like the one linked above) because I'd rather do the artistic work myself instead of letting some program pick the colors for me.

theres no such thing as color theory. with the right shades, even bright blue and red go together nicely...
