Please forgive me if this is a dumb question, but I am all new to this stuff......I have a jpeg image logo with default text beside it....I would like to change that default text to my own company name within Photoshop but to no avail, I am unsuccessful. The only thing it will let me do is add more text. I do not have a psd file for this image either. Does anyone have any ideas or suggestions as to how I can change this text? Thanks in advance.

Since its a jpeg, your text isnt seen by photoshop as such, but photoshop thinks its a image --> all he sees are pixels, so you cant edit the text.
What you could do is delete the text and write another one over it (may i suggest you alter the background a little too, so you wont notice so much you altered the text.

Now on a side note: you DO know that copying a logo (and certainly just altering the name in yours), is most of the time illegal. So be carefull what you gonna do with the outcome.
