Im using 3ds max 6 with mental ray as the assigned renderer. My problem is whenever I render an object that sits on the plane im using as ground, I get this effect...
Posted Image.
It looks like the shadow part of mental ray simply just doesnt complete the entire shadow. Ive tried many different settings within mental ray to no avail. Ive become very frustrated with this, so if you could point me towards a solution, I would greatly appreciate it.

Could it be that your objects are not correctly aligned with the floor?

or it could be the opposite. im not sure if it was specific to any rnderer but i read somewhere you should have your object slighlty above the plane (ie not touching)

No, i think its something to do with your shadows, ie your skylight..? This could be either something to do with the quality, or mental ray has problems with the set up.. Check it just to be sure.
