Apple Computer has just released a public beta version of Boot Camp, software that enables Microsoft Windows XP to run natively on Intel-based Macs.

The software, which will be included in Mac OS X 10.5, called Leopard, is available for download on Apple's Web site.

I've only used a Mac once and don't see why people buy them, I mean Windows exists! I think Mac users are people who try to be the odd one out or be different if you get what I mean

Oh man, I so want a mac right now, just the fact I don't need one for another 1-2 years and the cost behind them. They sound like they have some better qualities than PCs

if you call us mac users the odd one out, well then your calling a pretty big portien of the people odd.... true windows is still the one being used the most but with all of mac changes, some for good and some for the worst they are catching up and they have one of hte best product out on hte market to me..... windows has been letting us down alot latly and for a while i was wondering if they still existed becaus they just have been keeping quiet and not comming out with anythign great that can catch my attention.... macintoshes lead the "hollywood life" meaning in movies if you would pay close attention... and many other places... true you might find it different sins youve probably been using windows for a big portion of yoru life and when you tryed that mac for the first time you just found it too different.... if you would take the tiem and actualy learn it and get to know the features you might end up liking it... maybe not tho... depents on yoru tast.... but yeah enough about that we all have are own opinions right? you can hate macs if you want all i wanna say is atleast get to know them befor you judge them...

ps: prove me wrong if you want on what i said i rather know the truth...

Well i never would expect this to happen. Though there is one good reason to buy it. PHOTOSHOP WORKS and I can paly Battlefield 2!. Tohugh there re bad things. Everyone will buy macs and put windows on it. URGH! Then all these retarded dudes will start makin fakes in Chnia and then OS X will be extint and all software will be extinct as well. All because of the porcesser change. No that i am aganist it though, but reding my NZ macguide mag, about a month that apple woul change to intel processors, IBM creaed proscessor that were 8x! faster!!!!!!! Thats amazing, like they were running way over 4ghz amagin that. Do a whole render i like 2 secs. Id love that and then some company that mods old apple parts got the old powerbook processor (same one as mine) and boosted so it was faster than the macbook. true bootcamp will be huge and it will be a mater of time that it spreads through the PC community. Oh just to make windows, Steve Jobs (CEO of Apple) invented the ord PC. he he he. LOL. Macs Rule!

aeiko...

dont think that will happen that fast.... windows boots with bios... make has a hole different and more complexe boot system....

and another thing why mac actualy did this was becaus people already figured out how to boot windows on some of the new macs so mac did this instead so that they would get the profits out of it instead of other programmers that figur it out..... like >>>> onmac.net <<<<

Does Boot Camp support 3D? I remember one of the main problems I had with Virtual PC was the only reason I wanted it was for game and game modding...but Virtual PC didn't support any 3D. I know that Boot Camp boots Windows natively but I'm still not sure if that means Windows will be able to take advantage of all the innards of the Mac. So does anyone know if 3D applications like 3D Studio Max and games like Half Life 2 will run on Mac now? Thanks.

Yeah, basically everything works except the clock. And how would you expect to run a game in Virtual PC when you can barely browse the internet using it?
