Not really Haydro as the only people to experience using 360s are gamers, and others would argue they like Sony.
As said in the article if Vista does well then MS will be recovering as it will, not only affect gamers but companies, students etc
That said most companies wont be upgrading as soon as Vista is out, due to the reputation that Vista will supposedly contain many bugs at launch.

I wont upgrade to vista until having about 2GB of ram in your computer is the lowest end computers, because vista recommends 512MB I guess you need about 1gb to really enjoy it...and thats all I have is 1GB, and that will slow my computer down alot :P

*Quotes everything that everyone has ever posted on this thread*

I decided that I won't put in my opinion to this, simply because everyone has already argued what I would have had to say anyway. (Thanks everyone ^_^)

The only thing I can really say now is: It will definately be interesting to see where everything OS, Web and whatever you can think of based will end up in the days to come... and for whoever turns out being the next hotshot, I'm sure there is a great reason for it and they will be loved... just like a music band/singer with hit singles.

Just a quicky, can't remember who said it but someone was aruing the point that IE can't display png transparency. However this really isn't much of a deal as there is a very simple javascript fix which allows IE to display the transparency. :P

I've tried Vista and it's a pretty cool OS. I have 1.5GB of RAM and a Radeon X700 and it really isn't that slow. The only time you'll get a low FPS is if you have something worse than a Radeon X300 and you have around 15 windows open. Vista comes with multiple themes, too. You can pick from Aero, an xp-ish one, or the classic one. So if aero slows you down you can switch to one of the others.

I prefer XP over it though. I really, really hope that Microsoft made updates to the kernel and improved stability and memory-management. When I used vista, programs still crashed just like they did on XP. And vista isn't compatible with all legacy applications. For example, I wasn't able to run Steam.

Internet Explorer 7 is pretty cool, but I still prefer FireFox over it.

In my opinion, Microsoft's next operating system should be BSD based, just like Mac OSX. I'm sure Microsoft could make BSD an easy-to-use OS, and they could probably make an interpreter for the EXE format to work in BSD.

That reminds me, Microsoft and Apple aren't the only ones making OS's. You have all the linux flavors, the BSD's, Sun Solaris, QNX, Irix, SkyOS, etc. The problem with them is that they aren't as good for desktop use as the commercial ones.

Microsoft will stay in the lead, which can be good and bad.
IE needs PNG transparency because no other format has 8-bit alpha transparency (that I know of).

My personal opinion is microsoft is rubbish, they dont care about customer care or what the customer wants they just care about the dollars they bring in . The only reason like 95% of home computers run windows is because there are alot of people that have no idea about other os products on the market. do you go in to a shop and buy a pc from pc world and ask for them to run a linux os on it ( or find one already installed?). not that ive seen because microsoft is a house hold name to pc users and non pc users if you ask them about linux there like huh? what? Mircosoft windows is forced upon pc users because they dont know of anything else. every pc i have owned came with windows os installed. just my opinion on the matter.

I have mixed feelings about Microsoft since they announced Vista. It seems to be so expensive, take up so much space and not even have that much new features. If i wanted a new skin i'd use windowblinds and wincustomize :)
