My friend bought a xbox360, and Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter, we read online its co-op(as all the rest of the ghost recons)...so we were like sweet lets play. Then we find out its only co-op on live/linksystem....Along with everyother xbox360 game almost, Im seriously disappointed in 360 as they have made it so basically you only can do all the fun stuff on live/linksystem, I dont even think ghost recon lets you play more than 1 player...I have not found a game thats cooperative on the same xbox, My opinion is: Just make one controller port on the console cause thats basically what they are doing, theres no point in having 4 if everything requires linksys/live to play with friends...Us friends that pitch in to buy us an xbox360 that are to broke to buy our own....then only one of us can play the xbox360 at a time, ripoff :D

Say you are a 3rd-9th grader and invite your friend over. You both love to play X-box games, but unfortunately only have one X-box... How can you play together? It really depletes a gaming get-together.

I agree with Bluemage on this. It isn't really worth it. At least we can hope for the Revolution, but it won't be as great in graphics and it will be entirely different. Hopefully it won't be too bad though. Then we'll have the choices of a very pricey system with only two controllers, a system without a non-internet cooperative mode, or a system that is cheaper but entirely different. I think I am leaning towards the Revolution myself.

I have an Xbox 360, and unfortunately games like Ghost Recon don't have co-op except for on Live. One of the things about ALL next generation consoles is that they are depedant on online gaming, and if you are a hardcore gamer (probably determined by the fact you payed for an Xbox 360) than you're most likely going to have Xbox Live with it. Now, don't fret because with Xbox 360 there IS free Xbox Live, its the silver package and no, its not much and you can't use Xbox Live on original Xbox games (like Halo 2) but you can play online with Xbox 360 games (like Ghost Recon). Personally, if you own an Xbox 360, buying a subscription to Xbox Live is probably a good idea, its not that expensive (around $50 a year I believe), and if the Xbox 360 is being shared between friends, it couldn't be that hard to split that 4 ways ($12 a year for 4 people, for example, is pretty good).

If you want to play co-op, check the back of the game box. Microsoft lists the game funtions on the back, and you'll notice Ghost Recon says something like "Online Co-Op," not normal co-op, on the back. (Part of the reason they didn't offer offline co-op is because it would have to be in 1st person view, which most people don't favor in GRAW, and its hard to fit the Cross Com half a screen).

Xbox 360 is wonderful. I enjoy it, I think the achievements system, Xbox Live Arcade and Marketplace have revolutionized how a console's online experience should be. Since Xbox 360 is targeted at online gamers, with every single game functioning with the Live system (for the Gamer Score, at least) getting Xbox Live is a smart idea. If you're not smart, however, just get the hard drive and play Halo 2 co-op. That game is still fun as hell.

Yes but that still doesnt fix their problem, friends cant go over to eachothers houses and have a 16 player lan party, because you will need 16 xbox360's, 16 TV's and stuff, instead of just 4 xbox's and 4 TV's...I mean I really dont get why they have 4 controller ports on the 360...

Ok so you bought one game that sucks, and generalize saying everygame is only playable via xboxlive or System link. But what you failed to realize is that there are a lot of games that offer the classic split-screen experence. Such as Call of Duty® 2, Perfect Dark Zero™, Dead or Alive® 4, Burnout Revenge, shall I go on...?

oh and like BenNadler said read the back, and look to see how many playesr like if it says 1-4 players then under that 16player system link, then you can have your 4xbox 360's and 4 tvs.

Also get PDZ im telling you its the best FPS multiplayer game out so far.

You can still use just 4 TVs and 4 Xbox 360s, even in Ghost Recon (there is no such thing as 16 player co-op) but you could do a death match or something similar with 4 people on one screen, it would just be 1st person and the Cross Com thing would be a little smushed (unless you're on HDTV). Co-op is the only pain that's being listed here, but if you wanna do a lan party, you're not going to be doing co-op anyway (unless you can do co-op with 16 people, it just sounds highly unlikely...since the Ghost Recon team is consistent of only 4 people...)

And as my friend above me has mentioned, look at all the other games. And that's just the tip of the ice berg.

The Xbox 360 isn't a good investment for everyone. If you like RPGs, stear clear (well, Oblivion kicks ass). But this is my game line up for Xbox 360...

Halo/Halo 2
GTA3 & Vice City
Call of Duty 2
PGR3
GRAW
Far Cry
Gun
Oblivion

Notice how many are FPS? If you like RPGs, get a PS2. I have one only for the purpose of playing MGS, KH, and FF. Xbox 360 is a good investment depending on what games you like, if you're going to play online, etc. Don't bash it because you don't especially enjoy it, you're just not the target audience. It's a good system, and if you don't like it because it doesn't suit you, that's fine. None the less, it doesn't make it a bad system just because it doesn't cater to your tastes.

Call of Duty® 2, Perfect Dark Zero™, Dead or Alive® 4,

Call of duty, 4 player verses maybe? but not co-op
ya PDZ
DOA4 = 2 player verses...

Im just saying quite a few games are not co-op on one console, and or versing, GRAW is might be 16 player on live, but you still only can play 1 person per xbox, and also Quite a few games stopped doing co-op correctly, Splinter Cell coop only like 5 levels, GRAW only about 5 levels right? what happened to doing coop with your friends through the whole game??

Why would microsoft allow you to do that when they can make money out of people by offering that on xbox live. Its all about making money, sad but true.

I admit, co-op has dropped out a lot of games, but just take a look at the PS2 and PS3...only 2 controller ports? Most games don't even support co-op, for that matter. And on Nintendo the only game that comes to mind is Mario Party and Super Smash Bros.

Co-op seems to be laggin on all the consoles. With Xbox 360 atleast you still got Halo 2 and Halo :D

With online gaming, most people don't really need co-op play anymore, and it is somewhat a shame that GRAW doesn't even have it unless you system link or Xbox Live, but most people are expecting you to be playing online rather than in a party, which is a shame...but parties are also the reason for games like DOA4 or Super Smash Bros, not co-op midnight adventures like Halo 2. Oh well, co-op will be missed.

Well at least PS2 told the truth and didnt put 4 ports when it wont be using it...xbox360 just wasted time adding it, isnt DOA4 only 2 players?(4 players tagteam I guess =/)

You keep mentioning Halo and Halo2, thats for regular xbox o.O And serriously they should have just put 2 controller ports on the 360 and not waste their time adding 4 :D

Do you forget that all xbox games (well almost all) are backwards compadible? Meaning all the great games from xbox are playable on the xbox 360.

So they have 4-ports for games that have 4 player modes, the best example has been said, halo. Halo can be played on xbox 360. What is the point of putting 4 controller ports? So you can play games like halo on your 360 and not have to go back down to your xbox to play the 4 player games.

Oh did your know that xbox 360 just recently came out, and in many places they are syill on back-order meaning a person who might want it still might not have one. Plus if you saw Peter Moore interview gamespot he mentioned that xbox 360 has tons of games still in the works.

of course they have tons of games in works, it just came out...now the real question is, will they make the games so you can invite 4 friends over and play together..or take turns playing online 1by1 or 2by2?

So, just because a game doesn't include a cooperative session on one console means the entire Xbox 360 system is completely worthless? BlueMage, I find your reasoning quite insignificant and if I dare say, immature.

If you would like to play with another person on one Xbox 360 console, then go out and rent Perfect Dark Zero or Call of Duty 2, or if you like racing try out Project Gotham 3. Both are, in my opinion, very good games and have great multiplayer. Don't judge a console based on one game.

If I may be so bold to say, Quake IV and Doom3 for the Xbox gaming console feature multiplayer games, but only on live. The co-op on Doom3 is only playable online, too.

The Xbox360 supports 4 controllers; therefore it supports four players. Two of the controllers can be wired via the USB ports at the bottom or on the right-hand side if the console is laying horizontally rather than vertically. You can have four wireless controllers, or two wired and two wireless.

Some games will only feature online play with one person, others will feature 4 player sessions on one console. Before you buy a game, make sure you look as to what it supports. It's your fault for disregarding that fact; don't blame the console or the game, blame yourself.

Could not have said it better my self, oh and by the way a great multi-player game for 360 is Burnout. It is only 2 player split-screen, but it also has xbox live, and is very diffrent than PG3 yet just as fun, if not more fun.
