I would like to achieve a fading shadow effect. This website illustrates this effect: http://www.freshpeople.co.uk/recently/. There is a picture a site and then right above and to the left of the picture is the shadow, anyone care to explain how to do this?

do you mean the three rectiangles?
well.. create three rectiangles and add an inner-shadow blending option to them.

I c what you mean,
the big picture = big rectangle on its own layer
that layer got a "Shadow effect" (found in layer effects)
then they gave that layer a lower opacity (actually i think its the "fill" option they lowered and not the opacity)
(on top of that there are other layers with the actual objects)
Thats it.

I know how to do the actual shadow but I don't know how to fade it out, so how do I make a fading shadow?
