Hi,

Im currently under alot of stress, since this is my last year, and to graduate i have to do community service. One of the things to help out my school, i chose was to make a forum. I have used Invision, and SMF before and liked them alot, and i really enjoyed SMF alot... not only because its free, but it actually has one of the best security right now.

What im debating over, is basically, what is safe to use...

and of course most importantly the looks....

If I could get a someone that could make a skin for this forum, that would be great...and of course this would be a paid job.

If you can make skins for any board, please show me a little of your portfolio.

Thanks!

...and, message me if you need to ;)

Ok, wierd community service, but sure, IPB is the safest right now (i believe)

Looks can always change, dont worry about the looks right now, you can buy skins for all forums.

I don't really have much experience with forums but I'd say go through the process of elimination and base it on usability and efficiency and of course the security -- worry about the aesthetics later as that can always be compensated for.

I have been playing the flute for 6 years now and I love it, and I am playing the pipe organ as well. I also like to teach other people the in and outs of software such as the CS3 suite from Adobe.

IPB is in my opinion the safest forum and easiest to skin. I can skin IPB forums.

If you are looking for a free alternative I belive that SMF is a good choice.

I've used IPB since 1.3, and it's been great. I've looked at vb and phpbb, but I like IPB a lot more. :D

IPB is definatly the best way to go. Yes it does cost you unles you run 1.3 free form your host (or w/e they offer you) But the benefis, mod, and updates is waaaaay beter then any other board out thare imo.

Stick with what works and what you know. your site will prosper if you already knwo the basics of how to organize and run it.

I'd also suggest Invision. If you keep it updated it is quite secure. With many other forums your only hope of security is that your host is running mod_security with a good ruleset to block common exploits. I have not seen nearly as many of my customers have problems with IPB as with other software. Just keep IPB updated and do it legally so you *can* k eep it updated.

I have been a big fan of IPBoard since the very beginning and would higly recommend it. However I do suggest trying them if you can to see if you are happy
