hey, im pretty new to deisgn and that. and i created a business card for someone at 72dpi 85mmx55mm and when he went to get them printed they said they needed 300dpi 85mmx5.5mm

so i flattened the psd file in photoshop and copied and pasted it onto a new document (300dpi 85mmx55mm) and its really tiny

any ideas?

also what dpi should i work in all the time?

thanks

Have a read of Fakens article http://www.pixel2lif...showtopic=21001 and it should make things a lot clearer to you.

For print purposes, definitely 300dpi. For things on screen such as the internet 72dpi.

As mentioned, always use 300dpi or larger for print.

The reason it became smaller is because on screen, the higher the DPI setting, the larger the image will show. An inch will take up 300 pixels in 300 dpi, but only 72 pixels in 72 dpi. Thus, although they're both an inch when printed, on the screen one will be bigger.
