layer loses colours when dragged

hello i have a coloured image that i am dragging onto a another layer which has a black background and white text but when i drag the colured layer onto the black and white it loses its colour.

Anyone any ideas why it does this?

Are you dragging the color image from a seperate document? If so, maybe the document you're dragging to is in greyscale. Image > Mode > RGB / CMYK.
