pretend. you have a site to display ur works. and ur works are in thumbnails in a box that has multiple options. But it'll be near impossible to go into photoshop, making the box, making the thumbnail, re uploading 100 images and exceeding your bandwith. this is prolly really confusing. so heres an example

see here. for each business card, he has the box that says buy/view/cart. I'm assuming it might be a script? to make the box for everything. then another question is the thumbnail. does this mean that you have to make the thumbnail for every artwork?

annd, when you say have a gallery. a huge gallery, u'll have multiple pages. and when u add somthing new. it'll shove the oldest to another page replacing it.
i highly doubt u do it manually, so i'm assuming its another script?

yea, most likely php. the 'boxes' can all be pushed down easily if you use mysql and some simple mysql_query functions. you'll have more luck asking in the php section.
