and the next stupid question I am sure

I have my body text set to
body{
text-align: center;
font-family:Geneva, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;
font-size:10px;
}

but then when I am working in a table (yup I know I hate the things but it\s schedule and easiest that way I found) the text is bigger!
is there a reason for this or am I missing the obvious?
